1. Lagoa das Furnas

This lake is located in the Furnas Valley, São Miguel. The lake is a glacial lagoon that features ideal conditions for nature lovers. Visitors to the region should consider taking a tour through the natural lagoon.

2. Sete Cidades Falls

The Sete Cidades Falls consist of 3 huge waterfalls cascading down into the sea, which creates a beautiful view. The site is surrounded by lush vegetation and more than 1000 different species of plants can be found at the site, including 10 endemic species of ferns and shrubs. Nature enthusiasts can relax while enjoying a sublime landscape that looks like it’s straight out of an adventure movie.

3. Lagoa do Fogo

This lagoon is an ideal spot for nature lovers who are interested in bird watching. Bird watchers will be able to get a glimpse of dozens of species, including the Azores bullfinch, which is endemic to the archipelago. It’s also possible to get a close view of the crater on the island of Fogo, which was formed by volcanic activity several thousand years ago.

4. Terras de Bouro

This region is home to some unique ecosystems that can’t be found anywhere else in the Azores. It’s located on the northeastern side of the island, and it features a very diverse vegetation that includes some forest areas, cork forests and cedar forests.
